Some combinations just make sense: peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, electrons and protons, Mickey and Minnie. But there’s one combination that will have you smacking your head saying, “Why didn’t I think of that before?” What is this magical mixture? It’s none other than cannabis coffee.
Clichéd “wake and bake” jokes aside, combining THC and coffee has to be one of the greatest inventions ever. Forget indoor plumbing or the wheel. We’ll take a steaming mug of ganja joe over either of those any day.
In this article, we’ll tell you why cannabis coffee is so great and give you a simple recipe that you can make at home.
If you’re looking for even more energy and enhanced creativity with your cup of joe, try a sativa strain like Sour Diesel (although what this would do to the flavor, we have no idea).
If you want to be wide awake while still feeling relaxed (and without the caffeine jitters), try an indica strain like Skywalker.
And if you want the best of both worlds — creative and calm — try a hybrid like Fruity Pebbles or Kandy Kush.
If you do choose to brew your own cannabis coffee, it may take some experimentation before you get it just right. But don’t be afraid to fail. Like pizza, even the worst cannabis coffee is still good.
How To Add THC To Your Coffee With Cannabis Tincture
Making Cannabis Coffee with THC Tincture is by far the quickest and simplest method. You don’t need to decarboxylate weed or make cannabis butter, all you’ll need is the ingredients to make coffee and a handy bottle of THC Tincture. Here’s how to do it.
- A bottle of THC Tincture
Step 1: This method is very straightforward. Brew a cup of coffee as you usually would. This can be by brewing ground coffee in hot water or by using a coffee machine. You can even carry out this method with a cup of coffee that you brought from a coffee shop.
Step 2: Once you have your coffee, simply add a dose of THC Tincture. You can buy THC Tincture online in various forms, including tasty flavored THC Tinctures. Measure your dose with the dropper and add it to your coffee. A dose of 10mg THC is good for beginners, but you can add more or less depending on your tolerance and the kind of effects you want.
Step 3: Stir the tincture into your coffee thoroughly and, just like that, you have a cup of cannabis-infused coffee. You can now drink up the effects of THC as well as getting a nice caffeine boost.
How To Add THC To Your Coffee With Cannabis Butter
Another way to make cannabis coffee is with cannabis butter. This method will take a little longer as you must decarboxylate your weed in the oven before infusing it into butter. However, once you’re done, you’ll have a nice stash of cannabis butter that you can use repeatedly whenever you want a cup of cannabis coffee or any other marijuana edibles. Here’s how to do it.
- 7-10 grams of weed
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of butter
- Ground coffee
Step 1: First, you’ll need to decarboxylate your weed. Preheat your oven to 245ºF, break your cannabis into buds, and spread the buds evenly across a baking tray so they aren’t touching each other. Put the tray in the oven and let it heat for 30-40 minutes while shaking the tray occasionally. Take the tray out and allow the buds to cool before grinding.
Step 2: Next, you can start making your cannabis butter. Place a saucepan on medium heat and add a cup of butter and a cup of water. Stir the butter into the water and lower the heat so the water simmers without boiling.
Step 3: Once the heat is low enough, add your ground and decarboxylated cannabis buds and allow them to simmer for at least 2-3 hours. During this process, the cannabinoids and terpenes in the weed will bind to the fats in butter. Make sure the mixture doesn’t reach a boil and stir occasionally.
Step 4: After allowing the mixture to simmer for a few hours, strain the mixture into a sealable glass jar with a strainer or cheesecloth to separate the butter from any leftover weed. Seal the jar and place it in the fridge until it hardens. Remove any excess water. Your cannabis butter is now ready to use.
Step 5: Brew a cup of coffee as you usually would. While the water is still hot, add a small dose of cannabis butter and stir thoroughly. You only need a small amount to get strong effects and, with your newly made stash of cannabis butter, you’ll be able to make plenty of cups.
How To Add THC To Your Coffee With Ground Weed
One of the simplest ways to give your coffee an extra kick of THC is to simply use ground weed. You can use any cannabis strain you want and your coffee will be infused with the effects. This method involves decarboxylating your weed in hot water and will take at least 40 minutes, but you’ll end up with a delicious cup of cannabis-infused coffee.
- ½ gram of ground weed
- 3 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- Ground coffee
Step 1: Grind your weed if you haven’t done so already. This will make it easier to decarboxylate and use. Next, pour 3 cups of water in a pan and let it boil. Add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil once it’s boiling and stir together.
Step 2: After mixing your coconut oil and boiling water, lower the heat of your pan and allow it to cool for a few minutes. If it’s too hot, it can ruin the THC in your weed. Once it reaches a gentle simmer without boiling, add your ground cannabis.
Step 3: Let the mixture simmer for 40 minutes while occasionally stirring. The cannabinoids and terpenes in the weed will be infused into the oil and water, which you can then strain through a strainer into a cup. You can now add some ground coffee and make a tasty cup of cannabis coffee.
THC And Coffee
Just in case you’re wondering what the difference between THC and CBD is, THC has more psychoactive effects than CBD and is what makes you feel the high or euphoric sensation. Otherwise, CBD and THC have very similar benefits. THC can be used to help people manage pain, muscle spasticity, glaucoma, insomnia, low appetite, nausea, and anxiety.
Edibles, including cannabis in both food or drink form, are a great alternative to smoking. While ingesting weed is less harmful to your lungs than smoking, it can also give you a better high because edible cannabis first passes through your stomach and then liver before it gets into your bloodstream and brain. Your liver converts THC into a stronger form and therefore adds to the intensity of the high. It can also make your high last for much longer!
